PATs of grade 11

It seems as if the PATs (practical assessment tasks) of grade 11 went off quite well this year. Building the self-propelled car was quite adventurous and very nice cars were built. I believe the investigation part of the PAT has gone equally well.

PAT projects for grade 11 in technical sciences

The grade 11 learners are currently busy with the project part of their PATs (practical assessment tasks). For this, they have to build a car from cheap, readily available material that uses only elastic potential energy to propel the car. The idea is based on what is commonly known as a mousetrap car, but learners have the freedom to design their own. Apart from designing and building the car, a small scientific investigation must also be done by using the car. Best wishes to our future engineers! Here are a few examples:
