The IBP memo discussion for the grade 12 control test of term one will DV take place on 23 March 2015 from 09:00 to 11:00. After that - cluster marking take place. Emails with the detail arrangements were sent out. Contact your subject advisor if you have not received the information.

Grade 11 national paper of Nov 2014

If you have the physics paper (P1), please note that there are errors in some of the questions. If you use it for your learners, make sure that you correct the questions in which errors occur.

Strategy for progressed learners

At the end of January, the Action Plan for Progressed Learners were distributed. A new document, Strategy for Progressed Learners, is available now. All HODs and teachers responsible for physical science must please study this document in order to enable the learners to pass.

Strong start and build a good foundation

Second week of the term already. Make the best possible use of it.

It is no secret that the curriculum is full and now is the time to start making it easier to finish the curriculum in time and to avoid having too much pressure on learners. Start early with your extra classes if necessary.

Cluster meetings: No dates are available at this stage, but the work schedule for each grade is the same as last year.

Message from Dr Angela Stott

Dr Angela Stott sends this message to all teachers. Please take the advice seriously and follow it. In her message she has also invited you to contact her if necessary. 

Dear teachers

As you start your planning, please may I remind you of the resources you have received from me. Please do use them! Write the dates and planned homework into the Newton pace setter. Put the posters up in your class rooms and go through the games and worksheets yourself to remind yourself of what they teach, then plan how to use them. Also let the learners copy the discs onto computers they have at home as early as possible and encourage them to use the resources at home as much as they can. If possible, also put the discs onto your school computers. Try get the principal to plan time into the school timetable when physical science learners can work on the computers with this software, e.g. early before school or in the afternoon after school. This needs to be done regularly from January to November. It takes a lot of time to learn! Planning ... especially time and resource planning at the start of the year can improve effectiveness without huge extra effort; so let's work smart from day one!  You have my email and WhatsApp to ask for clarification if needed so feel free to do so.
